Priority funding goes to arts organizations with explicit arts missions, though other nonprofits may apply if partnering with local arts organizations or artists.<\/p><p>The grant program is administered in partnership with the Ventura County Community Foundation, with final funding decisions made by the County. Anticipated awards range from $10,000 &#8211; $50,000.<\/p><p>The deadline to submit an application for the VibeWell Ventura County Arts &amp; Mental Health Grant Program is Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 5 p.m. PST. It spans three floors and some 400 linear feet of display space. The Gallery receives some 3,000 visitors a day (plus employees) who circulate through the Gallery while conducting business Monday through Friday. Each year, we invite employees, retirees, and their family members to submit original artwork across various categories and media. This tradition highlights the diverse talents of our extended county family and promotes arts appreciation throughout our organization.<\/p><p>Now in its 22nd year, the 2025 exhibition continues to showcase the diverse artistic talent found across the County\u2019s workforce and their immediate family members. This year\u2019s exhibition features over 75 artists, from youth participants to professional artists, and represents over 20 different County of Ventura agencies and departments. His portraits honor the breadth of Black achievement &#8211; from cultural innovators to civil rights pioneers &#8211; while his abstract and landscape paintings express shared cultural heritage. This exhibition features work held in private collections and represents the first public display of his paintings in decades. It honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and celebrates Black History Month, offering our community a unique opportunity to explore and reflect on the rich tapestry of African American art and culture.<\/p><h6 role=\"heading\" data-uw-rm-heading=\"level\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>About Robert Lee Greene<\/strong><\/h6><p>Robert Lee Greene (1934-2008) was a distinguished artist and community leader whose legacy is deeply intertwined with Ventura County&#8217;s cultural heritage. Born in Charlotte, N.C., Greene served in both the Korean War (1953) and Vietnam War (1963) before settling in Ventura County for over five decades. While working at the Camarillo State Mental Hospital, Greene collaborated with renowned artist Henry &#8220;Chinatown&#8221; Taylor, whose work has been featured at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Both families were integral to a vibrant black community that nurtured local talents, including celebrated musicians Anderson .Paak and Matthew Uranga (Cola Boyy).<\/p><p>Greene held a B.S. in psychology and behavioral science from La Verne College and an MS in sociology and psychology from the University of La Verne. His professional career included serving as director of individual services at the Oxnard Boys Club, the California Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, and working as a certified counselor and psychotherapist for Ventura County&#8217;s probation referral court system. Beyond his paintings, Greene was a published poet, religious teacher, and humanitarian who dedicated his life to community service and spiritual growth.<\/p><p>Exhibit curated by Jen V. The reception took place April 18, 2024 on the Main Plaza of the Atrium Gallery, at the County of Ventura Government Center, Hall of Administration, with art entries on display throughout the building. This show received over 60 entries, with artists submitting unique pieces to exhibit. This funding opportunity is to support Ventura County based arts and culture organizations that provide services and programs to the Ventura County residents most impacted by the pandemic.\n<p\/>\n\nFunding can support matching grant requirements from a variety of grantmaking entities, including units of local government, private foundations, and State, regional, and federal agencies, so long as County funds are eligible according to the respective grant application.\n\n<p\/>\n\n<b>General Eligibility:<\/b>\n<ul>\n \t<li>Nonprofit (with 501c3 designation) arts and culture organizations based in Ventura County with operating budgets of less than $1,000,000 in the last fiscal year<\/li>\n \t<li>Active status with the California Secretary of State at time of
