Find out how the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.benefits.gov\/benefit\/4731\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Post-9\/11 GI Bill<\/a>, managed by the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U.S. Department of Veteran&#8217;s Affairs\u202f(VA)<\/a>, can help you today.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who is eligible to receive benefits?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be eligible to receive benefits from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.benefits.gov\/benefit\/4731\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Post-9\/11 GI Bill<\/a>, you must meet the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"arrow-list\">\n<li>Served at least 90 days on active duty (either all at once or with breaks in service) on or after September 11, 2001;<\/li>\n<li>Received a Purple Heart on or after September 11, 2001, and honorably discharged after any amount of service;<\/li>\n<li>Served at least 30 continuous days on or after September 11, 2001, and honorably discharged with a service-connected disability; or<\/li>\n<li>Are a dependent child using benefits transferred by a qualifying Veteran or servicemember.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What kind of benefits can I receive?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eligible individuals can receive up to 36 months of benefits, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"arrow-list\">\n<li><strong>Tuition and fees<\/strong>:\u202fIf you qualify for the maximum benefit, the Post-9\/11 GI Bill will cover the full cost of public, in-state tuition and fees. Please note that the Department of Veterans Affairs limits the rates for private and foreign schools. These rates may change year-over-year, but you can check current rates on the VA\u2019s website;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Money for housing (if you\u2019re in school more than half time)<\/strong>:\u202fThe VA bases your monthly housing allowance on the cost of living where your school is located;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Money for books and supplies<\/strong>:\u202fRecipients can receive up to $1,000 per school year;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Money to help you move from a rural area to go to school<\/strong>:\u202fYou may qualify for a one-time payment of $500 if you live in a county with six or fewer people per square mile and you\u2019re either moving at least 500 miles to go to school or have no other option but to fly by plane to get to your school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each eligible individual will receive a benefit payment that depends on their length of active service since September 10, 2001.
