Join the Alzheimer\u2019s Association, Coast Caregiver Resource Center and the LGBTQ+ Aging Coalition for a LGBTQ+ Support Group for those caring for a loved one with dementia to build a network of support with people who understand. The group meets the 1st<\/sup> & 3rd<\/sup> Mondays from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Goebel Adult Community Center, 1385 E Janss Road, Thousand Oaks and is facilitated by Brenda Birdwell.<\/p>\n

As a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia, you will face many challenges. Some are common among all caregivers, while others may be unique to those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. Alzheimer’s Association support groups are conducted by trained facilitators and provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for family and friends of those with dementia to:<\/p>\n

>> Exchange practical information, tips and ideas for caring for a loved one.<\/p>\n

>> Talk through issues and find ways of coping with stress.<\/p>\n

>> Share feelings, needs and concerns\u00a0\u00a0 reputable.<\/p>\n

>> Learn about community resources that can help.<\/p>\n

Grupo de Apoyo LGBTQ+<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00danase a la Alzheimers Association, Coast Caregiver Resource Center y la LGBTQ+ Aging Coalition para un grupo de apoyo LGBTQ+ para quienes cuidan a un ser querido con demencia para construir una red de apoyo con personas que comprendan. El grupo se re\u00fane el primer y tercer lunes de 1 a 2:30 p.m. en el Centro Comunitario para Adultos Goebel, 1385 E Janss Road, Thousand Oaks y es facilitado por Brenda Birdwell.<\/p>\n

Como cuidador de alguien con la enfermedad de Alzheimer u otra demencia, enfrentar\u00e1 muchos desaf\u00edos. Algunos son comunes entre todos los cuidadores, mientras que otros pueden ser exclusivos de quienes son lesbianas, gays, bisexuales o transg\u00e9nero.
