Free Childcare in Ventura for Children 6 weeks to 5 years in Low-Income Families

Easterseals is a nonprofit organization that offers free childcare to families in need.  Easterseals serves families who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Income is at or below poverty level
  • Families experiencing homelessness
  • SNAP benefit recipients
  • Children in Foster Families

Easterseals Child Development Center is located in Ventura and the Early Head Start (EHS) program serves children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.  Easterseals Ventura offers free center-based childcare, home-based services and the pregnant parent program.  Families who qualify for services can apply for the option that best meets their individual needs. Families may enroll for each of the different service options.

Children enrolled in EHS receive a quality education that supports school readiness and lifelong learning.  Access to childcare enables families to work, attend school or participate in career training.  While the children are cared for at the center, meals, formula, diapers and wipes are included with no charge to the families.

Families who enroll in the Home Base program receive services in their home.  The Home Base Visitor coaches families on engaging their children 6 weeks to 5 years old in activities that set them up for school readiness and lifelong success.  The Home Base Visitor also works directly with pregnant mothers to support them in getting their child off to a healthy start during pregnancy.  Families who are enrolled in the program also have access to weekly food boxes, diapers and wipes.
